I think the signifigance is maybe a comparison between the two of them. They are complete opposites Tom is so prideful and sure of himself and George is a weak little man. Both were betrayed. I was confused as to how the quote tied in. Was he trying to say that they were going to take different actions with the knowledge their wives are cheating?
